My Story

Of all the roles I have held throughout my career, serving families as a funeral celebrant has been the greatest privilege by far.

As a funeral celebrant, professional speaker, and bestselling author, I believe every life deserves to be remembered with authenticity, dignity, and heart.

For more than 15 years, I have had the privilege of helping Adelaide families honour the lives of those they love. During that time, I have conducted more than 1500 funeral and memorial services, each one a unique reflection of an individual's life, values, and story.

From the loss of a baby not yet born to celebrating a life that spanned 108 years, I have been honoured to support families through every stage of life's journey. I have worked with people from many cultural, religious, and non-religious backgrounds, creating personalised services that respect their beliefs, traditions, and wishes.

Many families have returned to me over the years, entrusting me to conduct services for multiple generations of their family—a trust I never take for granted and one I consider among the greatest privileges of my work.

My extensive experience in grief and loss has also given me a deep understanding of the emotions families may be experiencing. With compassion, patience, and professionalism, I help guide families through what can often be a difficult and overwhelming time.

1. How Do I Engage
Sharon?

You may have already engaged a funeral home or funeral director to arrange the service. While funeral directors can recommend a celebrant, many families are unaware that they can also request the celebrant they would like to conduct the service.

If you would like me to be your celebrant, simply ask your funeral director to contact me. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact me directly and I can liaise with your chosen funeral home on your behalf.

I work alongside families and funeral directors throughout Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, and regional South Australia.

2. What Happens When We Meet?

I will meet with you and your family to learn about your loved one's life, personality, interests, values, achievements, and the memories that made them special.

Together, we will discuss the style of service you would like, along with music, readings, tributes, and any personal touches that will help create a meaningful farewell.

Following our meeting, I will prepare a personalised service and if you require, carefully write your loved one's life story. You will be emailed a draft of the service, where you are able to make any changes to ensure the service is perfect for your loved one on the day.

3. What Happens On The Day?

On the day of the service, I arrive half an hour earlier to liaise with family, and communicate with any speakers.

I work closely with the funeral director and together we ensure that everything runs smoothly and that the family's wishes are carried out.

I professionally lead the service, guiding family and friends through the farewell. I present your loved one's service with warmth, dignity, and respect.

My role is to provide calm guidance and support, allowing you and your family to focus on remembering and honouring your loved one.

After struggling through life after the trauma of losing a daughter and partner in the same year a friend recommended I see Sharon. I couldn’t hold down a job because of the anxiety and depression I had been suffering, it was an effort to get up each day and get on with life. My first session with Sharon felt life changing, I felt more confident and calmer within myself. I needed a change, to do something different.
