Celebrant

My journey as a celebrant began after a friend asked me to speak at her Father’s funeral and from that moment my life changed forever. Since 2011, I have conducted several hundred “celebrations of life” for families grieving the loss of a loved one and I speak about death to approximately 1000 people per week.

It is such a privilege to work with families and honor their loved ones who have passed. Knowing I can make a difference at such a difficult time in their life is so rewarding.

What I have discovered in my career as a Funeral Celebrant, is that death is love. I don’t see it as working in the death industry, rather I work in the industry of love.

I sit with a family and I hear a person’s most inner thoughts about their loved one who has passed and I hear the most incredible love stories. I see the love a child has for their parent who has passed and the love that a parent has for their child who has passed. Yes I see hearts breaking every day, but it’s all borne out of love. It is through this work that I discover the most incredible life stories and life lessons.

It is a privilege to create a moving and fitting ceremony for the families’ loved one.

Every single life has a meaning and a purpose and we all have an incredible story to share.

Through my love of writing and work as a professional speaker, I capture this story and create a unique “celebration of life” providing love, peace and healing to those who attend.

"I know I said thank you at the service, but I wanted to reiterate how blessed we were to have you as his celebrant. Chris has been lovingly sent on his final journey with love and caring. Many people came to me after the service and commented that it was the best, most amazing funeral they had been to. This coming from some that are stoic and don’t show much empathy to others. You were an important part of the day. Thank you for ensuring it was what we envisioned for Chris."

With Sincere Gratitude, Julie

"I just wanted to say 'Thank You' to yourself for the professional and empathetic manner in which the service for my Mother was undertaken. I’m sure you have performed many such services, as was shown by the way the service was smoothly carried out, yet you were still able to make it a very personal occasion for those in attendance which was very much appreciated. Once again, sincere thanks."

Regards, Jon

"The family would like to convey their thanks to you for leading us through our Mothers funeral service. Your expertise in this area was apparent and you made everyone feel comfortable and at peace during the service. You related the information we gave you on Mum’s life with warmth, dignity and you displayed great empathy, we thank you. Everyone at the service made comment on your involvement and I am sure you will be called on again to do the same for others. Thankyou again."

Regards, Family Pope

"Thank you so much Sharon. The service you put together was perfect and we could not have asked for it to be written any better – you certainly have a talent for taking in everything people say and putting it all down."
